The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued an update regarding the fitness of Indian captain Rohit Sharma.

During India's opening T20 World Cup match against Ireland, Rohit was struck on the arm by a bouncer and had to retire hurt. At the time, he was in excellent form, having scored an impressive 52 runs off 37 balls before a delivery from Mark Adair forced him to leave the field.

According to an Indian media report, a senior source from the BCCI confirmed that Rohit Sharma's injury is not severe and he is expected to recover in time for the match against Pakistan on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

In a post-match interview, Rohit himself commented on the injury, describing his arm as "just a little sore."

India began their World Cup campaign on a high note, securing an eight-wicket victory over Ireland in New York on June 5.

Following their game against Pakistan, India will face the co-hosts, the United States of America (USA), and conclude their league matches against Canada on June 15 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill.
