The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refuted rumors about the Indian cricket team donning a new saffron-colored kit for their upcoming World Cup match against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 14.

Despite speculations arising from India's use of a Dutch Orange training kit, any change in the match kit color requires approval from the ICC, which historically mandates alternate colors only in case of a clash.

BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar dismissed these claims, asserting that the team will continue to wear the blue kit they used in their match against Australia.

“We categorically dismiss the media reports that Team India will be donning an alternative match kit against Pakistan. These reports are absolutely baseless and a work of someone’s imagination. The Men in Blue will sport India colours – Blue at ICC Cricket World Cup 2023,” Shelar said.

The 2019 World Cup featured a home and away jersey concept to avoid color clashes, requiring teams to switch to alternate colors if there was a similarity with their opponents' kit. For instance, India wore saffron color kit against host England in that tournament.
