England all-rounder Ben Stokes is raring to step on the field once again after he declares himself 'fit and hungry' for the Ashes in Australia.

The 30-year-old was not part of the England squad for the five-match Test series as he had taken an indefinite break to focus on his mental health and recovery from a fractured finger but he was added to the group in October.

He also suffered a forearm injury in a net session ahead of preparations in Brisbane but skipper Joe Root confirmed that he has come through it pretty well and will be part of the first Test from December 8.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Stokes was seen working on his skills. "Two months ago, I couldn’t hold a bat. With one week to go till the first Test, I’m fit and hungry for a big series down under," his caption read as.

It must be noted that the preparations of England and Australia have been vastly damaged due to persistent rain in Brisbane. They have been mostly training indoors.
