Former captain Azhar Ali has said that he is benefitting from working with legendary batting duo of Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan at the High Performance Center in Lahore.

While speaking to media in Lahore on Friday, the top-order batsman said he is working on the weaknesses he identified during the Test series against South Africa earlier this year.

“We are benefitting from the coaching of Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf. It is a good opportunity to learn from their experience. Faheem Ashraf’s batting also improved after working with Mohammad Yousuf in the High Performance Center,” said Azhar.

“There were few things I identified during the South African series that I needed to work on. There is no domestic cricket going on right now, so this is a perfect chance for us to work on our weaknesses,” he added.

Azhar added that the team management needs to back the younger players despite few initial failures.

“Every player is coming through a proper process and by performing in domestic cricket. Once a player has been identified as having the potential to represent the national side, he needs to be supported," he said.

The 36-year-old is backing the Men in green to perform well in their upcoming limited-overs tour to South Africa.

“Pakistan has recently beaten South Africa in the home series. Performing away is never easy but the recent series victory will help boost their confidence. Pakistan are doing well in limited-overs cricket and will do their best in South Africa,” he concluded.
