Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has rejected any possibility of a bilateral series between arch-rival Pakistan and India until Kashmir issue is resolved.
While talking to media during the second day of the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, Awan clarified Pakistan government’s stance on the aforementioned subject.
"India has created many barriers in our path and promoted false propaganda on all forums to stop international cricket in Pakistan," Awan was quoted as saying by DAWN. "Until India frees the people of occupied Kashmir, any matches between the countries will only pour salt on the wounds of the Kashmiris."

The 50-year-old also appreciated the Bangladesh Cricket Board (PCB) for sending their team and playing their part in restoration of international cricket in Pakistan.
"They honoured their commitment, and by sending their team, have supported us in reviving international cricket in the country. Together we have demonstrated to the world that we are a peaceful country regardless of Indian propaganda," she said. “We are very confident that more teams will come to our country to play cricket. Our government is committed to explore the potential of youth in different sports.”
Awan also added that former cricketer and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has played a huge role in promoting country’s positive image in the world.
“The world is accepting that Pakistan is a peace loving country. We are happy that several countries are now softening their travel advisories for Pakistan and that would give a boost to tourism in the country,” she concluded.
