Boxing Day Test between Pakistan and South Africa begins today

The Boxing Day Test between Pakistan and South Africa kicks off today at Centurion.  

Pakistan's playing XI includes pacers Naseem Shah, Khurram Shehzad, and Mohammad Abbas, along with all-rounder Aamer Jamal. Skipper Babar Azam returns to the team after missing the last two Tests.  

Experienced fast bowler Mohammad Abbas makes a comeback to the Test squad after last playing against the West Indies in August 2021. His inclusion follows an outstanding performance in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, where he claimed 31 wickets in five matches.  

In their most recent Test series, Pakistan defeated South Africa 2-0 in January-February 2021. The first Test, held in Karachi, was won by Pakistan by seven wickets, while the second Test in Rawalpindi saw Pakistan secure a 95-run victory.  

Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood stated that Centurion’s conditions are expected to favor seamers. However, the high-altitude venue could also offer good batting conditions.
