British High Commission’s Political Counselor, Zoe Ware, highlighted the enthusiasm of English cricket fans currently in Pakistan to support their team.

Speaking to a local news channel, Ware shared that the English fans who have traveled to Pakistan are driven by their love for cricket, adding that they will return to the UK with a deeper appreciation and understanding of Pakistan.

Ware, who became a cricket fan after watching her sister’s passion for the sport, noted her experience growing up near The Oval, saying it was impossible not to become a cricket enthusiast in such an environment. She mentioned that around 150 fans have traveled from the UK to Pakistan, underscoring the strong connection that British fans have with Pakistan’s cricket scene.

During her time in Pakistan, Ware observed foreign fans enjoying the sport, with England's famous supporters’ group, the Barmy Army, not only attending matches but also engaging in a friendly cricket game locally.

Reflecting on the recent history between the two nations, Ware shared her excitement over being in Pakistan when England made its historic tour in 2022 after a long hiatus. She recalled watching the Honor Board at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where England had marked their remarkable performance during that tour, celebrating the ongoing passion for cricket between the two countries.
