England captain Jos Buttler expressed excitement about the return of Jofra Archer, describing him as a "proper superstar," ahead of the upcoming Pakistan series and the T20 World Cup.

Archer, who has been sidelined due to injury for over a year, showcased his fitness and pace while playing for the Sussex second XI against Kent.

Despite not featuring in top-level cricket for some time, Archer's inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad and the upcoming series against Pakistan highlights his importance to the team.

Buttler emphasized Archer's capabilities and his ability to make an impact on the game, highlighting him as a reliable option for the team.

"It’s a huge encouragement for him to be back and see him ready to play. Everyone knows what he is capable of and the attitude he possesses. As a captain he is someone you can always turn to in a game because he always has a trick up his sleeve," Buttler said.

However, Buttler also emphasized the need to manage expectations regarding Archer's return, acknowledging that it might take some time for him to regain his peak form. He stressed the importance of being cautious with Archer's workload, considering the jump in intensity from domestic cricket to international matches.

It’s great to be able to call on him but it’s important to manage expectations. He has been out of it for a while now so we will need to look after him and realise that it might just take him a little while to be the Jofra of 2019," he stated.

"He is a proper superstar but we do have to be smart with him. It’s a jump in intensity from what he’s doing now to international cricket and you can’t really replicate it," he further added.

It is worth noting that England will aim to replicate their success from two years ago when they lifted the T20 World Cup trophy in Australia by defeating Pakistan. Their campaign begins on June 4 against Scotland.
