The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has reserved the verdict of the Umar Akmal case after an extensive seven-hour session.
According to sources, the lawyers representing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and cricketer Umar Akmal presented their cases via video link. The adjudicator, who is based in England, reserved the verdict after listening to the lawyers of both parties.
An independent adjudicator had previously reduced the three-year ban that was given to Akmal because of the fixing case against him by the Anti-Corruption Tribunal to an 18-month ban.

The PCB had reached out to the CAS against the verdict of reducing the ban on the right-handed batsman. On the other hand, Akmal had reached out to the CAS for a further reduction in his ban.
Akmal was charged for two breaches of Article 2.4.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code in two unrelated incidents.
The right-handed batsman was provisionally suspended on February 20, 2020, just before the beginning of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five.
