Defending champions Central Punjab have qualified for the final of the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which seemed unlikely at one stage of the tournament.
The Hassan Ali-led unit won their 10th round match against Southern Punjab by 10 wickets to seal a place in the final, where they will face Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Central had only 30 points after five rounds and were placed at the bottom of the table. They won four of the next five matches, earning 107 points, and consequently finished second at the end of the 10th round.
After posting a massive first innings total, Central Punjab bowled out Southern Punjab for 187 and forced them to follow on.
Southern Punjab resumed their second innings on 314 for seven, on the final day, and were eventually bowled out for 368, which set Central Punjab a modest target of 63 runs.
The final of the event will start on January 1 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
