Concerns arise over India's possible last-minute withdrawal without official explanations, prompting ICC to prepare contingency plans, including budgeting for alternative host countries alongside Pakistan
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Colombo on Sunday to attend the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting.
All heads of cricket boards are expected to participate in this significant gathering.
Mohsin Naqvi is set to attend the ICC Board meeting on Monday, while both Naqvi and Salman Naseer will participate in the ICC's Annual General Meeting on the same day. The ICC Board is due to approve the budget for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which the Chief Financial Officers of the ICC and PCB have jointly prepared.
The final approval of the budget of the Champions Trophy will also be given in the meeting.
The agenda of the meeting does not include the hybrid model or alternative venue of the Champions Trophy.
In addition to budget discussions, there is considerable speculation about India's participation in the Champions Trophy. Mohsin Naqvi is expected to meet with Secretary Jay Shah of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to discuss this matter. No discussions or proposals are currently being considered to host a Pakistan versus India T20I at a neutral venue.
Meanwhile, the PCB Chairman and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Salman Naseer attended the Lanka Premier League (LPL) final, along with ICC Board members and other cricket board chiefs, on Sunday.
During the final, Naqvi and other board chiefs engaged in informal discussions about future plans and strategies.
