Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami achieved a major milestone in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match against Bangladesh on Thursday. With a brilliant five-wicket haul, he equaled Saqlain Mushtaq’s record as the joint second-fastest bowler to reach 200 wickets in ODIs in terms of innings played.  

Shami reached the milestone in 104 innings, the same as Pakistan’s Saqlain Mushtaq. Only Mitchell Starc remains ahead, having reached 200 wickets in just 102 innings.  

Fastest to 200 ODI Wickets (By Innings): 

1. Mitchell Starc (Australia) – 102 innings  
2. Saqlain Mushtaq (Pakistan) – 104 innings  
3. Mohammed Shami (India) – 104 innings
4. Trent Boult (New Zealand) – 107 innings  
5. Brett Lee (Australia) – 112 innings

Shami also made history in another way—he became the fastest bowler to take 200 wickets in ODIs in terms of deliveries bowled, surpassing *Mitchell Starc and Saqlain Mushtaq.

2. Mitchell Starc (Australia) – 5,240 deliveries 
3. Saqlain Mushtaq (Pakistan) – 5,451 deliveries

5. Trent Boult (New Zealand) – 5,783 deliveries  

Shami was India’s best bowler in the match, finishing with 5/53 in 10 overs. His fiery spell dismantled Bangladesh’s top order early in the innings.
