Pakistan remains confident that the ICC will ensure its rules are followed
The ICC Champions Trophy, hosted by Pakistan, is set to begin next month. According to ICC regulations, the host country’s name is traditionally displayed on the approved tournament logo, which appears on all participating teams’ jerseys.
However, Indian media reports claim that the Indian cricket team will not include Pakistan’s name on their jerseys. This has raised questions about whether India intends to create another controversy and whether the ICC will enforce its rules or allow India to breach them.
The ICC-approved Champions Trophy logo prominently features Pakistan’s name as the host nation. Indian media’s claims of omitting Pakistan’s name have sparked a debate, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressing dissatisfaction over the situation.
As per ICC regulations, all teams must use the approved logo on their playing and training kits. Teams are required to submit their kits for ICC approval, and any incorrect use of the logo results in immediate rejection. Non-compliance would constitute a violation of the ICC’s Clothing and Equipment Regulations.
Pakistan remains confident that the ICC will ensure its rules are followed. It is worth noting that a similar controversy arose during last year’s Asia Cup. On that occasion, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) approved a logo that did not feature the host country’s name, sparking criticism.
The question now is whether the ICC will take a firm stand and enforce its regulations or allow India to bypass them. The situation has left fans and cricket boards eagerly awaiting clarity on this contentious issue.
