Sri Lanka has appointed Charith Asalanka as their new T20 captain ahead of the upcoming white-ball series against India. The 27-year-old middle-order batsman takes over from Wanindu Hasaranga, who stepped down 11 days ago following Sri Lanka's early exit from the T20 World Cup in June.

The Indian team arrived on Monday, and the first of the three T20 matches will be played on Saturday at Pallekele in Kandy. The three-match ODI series is scheduled to start on August 2 at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
