New Zealand cricketer Colin Munro has officially announced his retirement from international cricket after missing out on New Zealand's T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

The dynamic left-handed batter concluded his international career on Friday that included 123 matches. He last played for the New Zealand national team in the fifth T20I against India at Bay Oval in 2020. He appeared in 65 T20Is, 57 ODIs, and one Test match for New Zealand, amassing over 3,000 runs and taking seven wickets.

Munro finishes his international career as New Zealand’s sixth all-time leading T20I run-scorer, with 1,724 runs at an average of 31 and a strike rate of 156.4. He also holds the record for the most T20I centuries by any New Zealander, having scored three.

Hailing from the Auckland Cricket pathway, Munro represented New Zealand at the 2006 ICC Under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka and made his international debut in all three formats during the 2012-13 tour of South Africa.

Excelling in white-ball formats, Munro was a pivotal part of the BLACKCAPS' T20 and ODI teams from 2016 to 2019, participating in the 2014 and 2016 T20 World Cups and the 2019 ODI World Cup in England.

Munro's career was marked by several achievements, including breaking records. His 47-ball century against the West Indies at Bay Oval in 2018 set the record for the fastest T20 century for New Zealand at the time and made him the first player to score three T20 international centuries.
