St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ struggles in CPL 2024 have deepened with the unavailability of allrounder Sherfane Rutherford. During their recent home game against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, a CPL announcement confirmed that Rutherford has withdrawn from the tournament for personal reasons. A replacement will be announced soon.

Rutherford played just four matches for the Patriots this season, scoring 35 runs with an impressive strike rate of 194.44. In his absence, Patriots turned to Dominic Drakes, a bowling allrounder, who batted at No. 7 in their game against the Falcons. Unfortunately, the Patriots remain at the bottom of the points table with only one win in six matches.

To make matters worse, Patriots’ allrounder Kyle Mayers is now also in an injury concern after leaving the field during his two-over bowling spell due to a possible hamstring issue. On a brighter note, South African batter Rilee Rossouw returned to action after recovering from a calf injury.

Patriots’ season has been plagued by other setbacks as well. Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza was ruled out before the season began due to injury, while Hasaranga and Tabraiz Shamsi were unavailable at various points. Additionally, Tristan Stubbs returned to South Africa for national duties.
