Cricket dominates Pakistan's 2021 Google searches

Pakistan vs South Africa was the most Googled term in 2021 whereas Shoaib Malik was the most searched athlete in Pakistan

As 2021 comes to a close, Google has released a round-up of the most searched queries for individual countries. Pakistan, a cricket enthusiast nation, saw all 10 searches belong to cricket.

The trend report suggests that "Pakistan vs South Africa" was the most searched term in 2021. Earlier this year, South Africa toured Pakistan and became one of the first few top teams to visit Pakistan to play an international series; Pakistan won the three T20 international series 2-1 whereas registered a series win in a two-Test match series.

Pakistan's marquee domestic tournament of Pakistan Super League was ranked third whereas the recently concluded T20 World Cup also appeared in the list as the fifth most searched term.

Most searched athletes in Pakistan, 2021

Cricket has always remained a huge part of Pakistan's culture and unsurprisingly, all top five most searched sports personalities in 2021 were also cricketers.

All-rounder veteran Shoaib Malik, who was a late pick for the T20 World Cup after Shoaib Maqsood was injured, secured the number one position whereas Asif Ali and Shaheen Afridi also appeared in the list.
