Pakistan has re-surged to the top of the ICC One Day International (ODI) rankings after a dominant whitewash of Afghanistan in Colombo on Saturday.

Prior to the series, Pakistan was in second place with 116 rating, just two rating behind Australia. However, with their 3-0 victory, Pakistan has now moved to the top of the rankings with 118 rating, ahead of Australia in points.

The team's exceptional performance has left fans in a frenzy of celebration and earned them appreciation and praise from the cricket fraternity.

Here's how some of the former cricketers congratulated the team's ascent to the top of the ODI rankings, on social media site 'X.'

Sri Lankan Test captain, Dimuth Karunaratne also congratulated Pakistan on this feat.

Social media was abuzz with congratulatory messages, and here's how fans reacted and celebrated Pakistan's milestone.

This is Pakistan's second time at the top of the ODI rankings this year. They first reached the top after winning their first four matches against New Zealand in a five-match series in May. However, they lost the fifth and final match to New Zealand, which allowed Australia to reclaim the top spot.

Pakistan will now take part in the 2023 Asia Cup, and their first match in that six-team tournament comes against Nepal in Multan on August 30.
