Cricket fraternity praises Pakistan's record chase against Sri Lanka

Pakistan have registered a historic victory against Sri Lanka in the opening Test match of the series at Galle.

The Men in Green chased down the massive total of 342 runs in the fourth innings to defy a strong Sri Lankan spin bowling attack.

Abdullah Shafique took the player of the match trophy as he faced 408 deliveries in the fourth innings as he finished with an unbeaten 160, second highest-ever score while chasing a Test match against Sri Lanka.

Babar Azam led from the front as he showed great grit and determination in the first innings while the others crumbled around him. The captain also popped off with a half-century in the following innings, but failed to convert it into a big score.

Pakistan eventually closed the game with four wickets to spare as Shafique hit the winning runs off of Jayasuriya.

This is now Pakistan's second-highest run-chase in Test cricket history and also the first-ever 200+ runs successful run-chase against Sri Lanka at Galle.

The cricket fraternity came together to applaud Pakistan's remarkable efforts for securing a comprehensive victory.
