The speculation surrounding MS Dhoni's future in the IPL has been a hot topic, and Chennai Super Kings' CEO Kasi Viswanathan recently gave an update on the matter.

In a conversation on the CSK YouTube channel, Viswanathan addressed the question of whether this would be Dhoni's final IPL as a player.

"I do not know," Viswanathan responded. "It is a question which only MS can answer. The question for us, we have always respected the decisions taken by MS; we have left it to him."

Viswanathan expressed hope that Dhoni, who showcased his skills in IPL 2024 with 161 runs in 73 balls at a strike rate of 220.55, would continue playing for CSK in the next season. However, he acknowledged that the final decision rests with Dhoni.

Over the years, Dhoni has been repeatedly asked about his IPL future. Despite not making any public statements during this IPL season, his contributions on the field and his quiet handover of the CSK captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad have fueled discussions about his plans.

Looking ahead, CSK may need to strategize for a future without Dhoni, considering he will be 43 by the next season and a mega auction is looming. Viswanathan's comments suggest that CSK is prepared for various scenarios but remains hopeful about Dhoni's continued presence.

CSK, a five-time IPL champion, finished fifth in IPL 2024, missing the playoffs for the third time in their history. However, their track record suggests they are capable of bouncing back strongly in the next season.
