Johnny Grave, who has served as CEO of Cricket West Indies (CWI) since February 2017, will be stepping down from his role by the end of October.
In a statement, Graves expressed that it is the right time for fresh leadership to build upon the strong foundations he has helped establish within the organization.
He highlighted his desire for greater progress in governance reform, implementing recommendations from the Wehby Report, achieving a more equitable model at the ICC level, and generating new revenue for grassroots cricket.
During his seven-year tenure, Graves significantly improved relations between CWI and players. He facilitated a landmark agreement with the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) ensuring designated windows for players in the IPL and CPL tournaments, and pay parity for men's and women's players by 2027.
Under his leadership, CWI successfully hosted several ICC global events, including the Women's World T20 in 2018, the U-19 Men's Cricket World Cup in 2022, and the recent Men's T20 World Cup. His role in pioneering biosecure cricket protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic enabled the safe resumption of international cricket across multiple countries.
Looking ahead, CWI has announced plans for a comprehensive recruitment process to select its next CEO, aiming to continue the organization's progress under new leadership.
