Former South African pacer Dale Steyn has revealed his predictions for the semi-finalists of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which is currently being co-hosted by the United States and the West Indies.

In a video posted on Instagram, Steyn made a bold move by excluding the England cricket team from his list of predicted semi-finalists.

Despite England's recent success, including their victory in the 2022 T20 World Cup and their recent Super 8 win against West Indies, Steyn did not see them making it to the final four this time.

“I think from this group (Group 2) I am going to go with South Africa and West Indies. I gotta go with South Africa because they are my team. England is a tough team, but I think South Africa and West Indies, and then from the other group (Group 1), it is a tough group but Australia because they just know how to win these tournaments and I have a feeling Afghanistan could push, but it is gonna be India,” Steyn said.

Yesterday, South Africa showcased their dominance in their recent Super 8 match against the United States, securing an 18-run victory at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound on Wednesday.

Defending a challenging target of 195, the Proteas were led by an exceptional performance from Kagiso Rabada. Rabada's spell of 3/18 from his four overs was crucial in stalling the USA's chase. Despite early setbacks, the USA staged a remarkable fightback with a 91-run partnership between Andries Gous and Harmeet Singh, bringing them back into the game.

At one stage, the USA needed just 28 runs from 12 balls to pull off a stunning upset. However, Rabada's return in the 19th over proved decisive. He dismissed Harmeet on the first delivery of the over, effectively ending the USA's hopes. Harmeet's departure for 38 off 22 balls saw the USA finish their innings at 176-6 after 20 overs. Gous top-scored with a resilient 80 off 47 balls, including ten boundaries.
