Dead pitch equal to dead game - Wasim Jaffer reacts to Rawalpindi track

Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer is not amused with the pitch of the ongoing Test between Pakistan and Australia as he calls dead and slow pitches a threat to the pinnacle format of the game.

Both sides batted for two days each and only 11 wickets fell in four days. Pakistan made 476 for 4 in 162 overs while Australia made 449 till the end of Day Four while they only added ten runs and lost three wickets early on Day Five.

The Pindi Cricket Stadium's track has received criticism and ex-Indian cricket has also shared his opinion via Twitter.

"I find it amusing when Test matches get over inside four days yet teams lose WTC points for overrate. The biggest threat to Test cricket is not overrate. Tests rarely go to day 5 anyway nowadays. The biggest threat to Test cricket is dead pitches. Dead pitch = Dead game."

It must be noted that both teams played with a brilliant bowling attack. The likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Shaheen Afridi are playing the Test but they have not received any assistance from the pitch.
