Debutant Scott Boland has created history against England as Australia retained the Ashes after taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.
Replacing injured Jhye Richardson in the squad, Boland was handed the baggy green cap as Australia took on England in the third Test match of the series.
Boland took two wickets in the first innings as England were bundled over for 185 runs. The pacer turned on the heat in the second innings which saw the debutant turn on the heat as he took 6 wickets, conceding only 7 runs from his 4 overs.
In doing so, Boland equalled Aussie Ernie Toschak and Stuart Broad's record for quickest Five-For in Test match history in just 19 deliveries.
Picking up his maiden Test wicket in the first innings, Boland removed Hasib Hameed, Joe Root, Jack Leach, Ollie Robinson, Jonny Bairstow and Mark Wood in the following inning.
Speaking about in a post-match interview, Boland said he could not believe what had just happened.
"Can't really believe. We thought we had a chance of winning today when we came in, but just not so quickly. I came to know on Christmas Eve, and had a lot of support from teammates and family. It was a big step up from anything that I have played, and I knew it would be tough. I want to thank the crowd for all their support over the last three days, really appreciate it," he said after the match.
In response to his record-equalling spell, Boland said he was "speechless" and rated it as his "best-ever."
"I'm speechless as well, had no idea it would be over so soon. Those are my best-ever figures, nothing has happened this quickly before. They (the crowd) were amazing, going down there (near the boundary) gave me a real buzz," he added.
