Devon Conway and Finn Allen have decided to forego central playing contracts with New Zealand in favor of pursuing opportunities in franchise cricket.

Devon Conway, a seasoned batsman, has opted for a casual playing contract over the next year to participate in South Africa's domestic T20 competition early next year. Despite this decision, the 33-year-old remains committed to representing New Zealand in Test matches and hopes to contribute to their campaigns in the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year.

In explaining his choice, Conway expressed gratitude to New Zealand Cricket for their support and acknowledged that stepping away from a central contract was a significant decision for himself and his family.

Emphasizing his ongoing dedication to playing for the Black Caps, he affirmed his enthusiasm for international cricket and his eagerness to compete in upcoming tournaments.

“I’m excited to be part of the upcoming Test squads for an important period in the ICC World Test Championship cycle and am looking forward to being involved in the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan next February if selected,” Conway said.

Meanwhile, Finn Allen, known for his powerful batting style, also declined the central contract option and will be available for selection by New Zealand on a case-by-case basis.

New Zealand Cricket plans to announce replacements for Conway and Allen on the central playing contract list in the near future.
