Only Chris Gayle and Aaron Finch have scored bigger scores in T20 cricket. Brevis's effort is the highest one by a South African in the format.
Brevis recorded his century in just 35 balls to celebrate his maiden ton in T20 cricket. He completed his 150 in 52 balls, making it the fastest 150 by any player in any form of T20 cricket worldwide. Brevis' knock included a total of 13 boundaries and as many sixes.
Brevis' effort caught the world's attention with legendary South African cricketer Ab de Villiers leading the reactions. "Dewald Brevis. No need to say more" wrote de Villiers on Twitter.
Brevis is yet to make his international debut but made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut earlier this year. In his maiden campaign for Mumbai Indians, he made 161 runs in seven matches. Brevis was the highest run-scorer of the 2022 U-19 World Cup with 506 runs in six innings which included two half-centuries and three centuries.
