Veteran Indian cricket icons Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have firmly established themselves as legends of the game, contributing significantly to India's success over the years.

As they near the twilight of their illustrious careers, the cricket world anticipates their departure with respect and admiration.

After leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, both Sharma and Kohli retired from T20I cricket, marking the end of an era.

In light of their retirement, former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik has proposed four potential replacements to fill the substantial void left by these legends.

Karthik highlighted Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhishek Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Tilak Varma as the promising talents poised to step into the shoes of Sharma and Kohli in India's lineup.

“First of all, they (Rohit and Kohli) are very hard to replace, but in the XI, I do think there are four choices at the moment. There’s Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Shubman Gill. I think Yashasvi Jaiswal will definitely be starting in the XI in T20I cricket,” Karthik said.

Shubman Gill, named India’s vice-captain in ODIs and T20Is for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, has consistently proven his mettle. Despite some rough patches, Gill’s outstanding performances for both India and in the IPL have secured his position as a key player for the future.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as a top-order sensation for India. His exceptional performances in Test cricket and the IPL have solidified his status as a rising star, with the BCCI showing clear intent to invest in his development.

Abhishek Sharma, who recently debuted for India in the series against Zimbabwe, impressed with a remarkable century, further validating his potential.
