Zimbabwe's Dion Myers has made a strong comeback to cricket after taking a three-year break to pursue university studies in the UK. The 21-year-old returned to the team for the five-match T20I series against India and impressed everyone with a brilliant half-century under pressure in the third match. Despite his efforts, Zimbabwe fell short by 23 runs.

Myers, who led Zimbabwe in the 2020 U19 World Cup, made his international debut soon after that tournament. However, he decided to pause his cricket career to focus on his education. Now back in the squad, Myers shared that he spent the last few years reflecting on his game and training hard to return to international cricket.

He acknowledged that balancing studies and cricket was challenging, but he managed to overcome the obstacles. Myers expressed his gratitude to his teammates and family for their support during this time.

“Over the last few years, there's been a lot of self-introspection, seeing how my first stint went and things like I did well... things I can improve upon. And watching a lot of cricket, honestly, along with my own training. It just helps sometimes when you're out of the system or set-up to be able to look from a panoramic view and see what you can achieve or what you can do better to give to the team,” Myers was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“It’s surreal (to return to team). It’s something that you dream about as a young boy. I really thank my teammates and my family for the support. Times were tough in the past few years, but I managed to find a way, so very proud of it. Being back in the team…it’s such a nice vibe. So, I expect a lot more from this team going forward and very excited for the future,” he further added.
