Former New Zealand cricketer and national selector Dion Nash has been elected to the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) board, taking over the position vacated by Martin Snedden.

Nash's appointment brings a mix of cricketing and business experience to the board. During his cricket career, Nash played 32 Tests and 81 ODIs between 1992 and 2002. He was also part of New Zealand's historic win at the 2000 ICC KnockOut tournament, now known as the Champions Trophy.

"It's good to have someone with Dion's cricket and business experience coming onto the board at a time when Martin is stepping down," NZC chair Diana Pukepatu-Lyndon said. "Dion has a strong interest in not just the playing of the game but [also] the business of the game, and that should help stand us in good stead."

Nash, known for his allrounder skills, left a mark early in his career by scoring a half-century and taking ten wickets at Lord’s in just his fifth Test. He also led New Zealand in seven ODIs and three Tests in 1999 when Stephen Fleming was sidelined due to injury.

After retiring from cricket, Nash served as a national selector in 2005 before transitioning into the business world. His blend of on-field and off-field expertise is expected to contribute significantly to New Zealand Cricket's future.

Snedden, who Nash replaces, served New Zealand Cricket in various capacities, including as a player, CEO, board member, and chair. He also represented New Zealand on the ICC board during his tenure.
