Pakistan Women's team captain Bismah Mahroof has opened up about their 2022 World Cup campaign, where she expressed her disappointment as the results were not in their favour.

The Girls in Green managed to claim one win out of seven games and finished last on the table. The win against West Indies was their first win in the competition since 2009.

"Of course, we are disappointed as we did not get the results according to our expectations. We lost two close games; if we had won those matches, we would be in a different position on the points table." Bismah said in a video released by the PCB.

"It hurt us a lot, but we learned a lot. The difference between our team compared to the others is the mindset and approach towards the game. We need to work on how we approach the game. Bismah

The left-handed batter mentioned the positives of the tournament as there were few impressive performances by the Girls in Green.

"If we look at the positives from the tournament, we have a couple of good performances, Sidra Ameen scored a century, none of the Pakistani batters has ever scored a century before in the World Cup, Nida Dar performed brilliantly in a few matches and won us the match against West Indies". Bismah added.

The skipper of the Pakistan Women's team gave her views on the team's overall performance during the world cup and highlighted the weaknesses that needs to be addressed.

"If we look at the overview of our world cup performance, there are a lot of things we need to change, and we will work on them once we return home," Bismah stated.

"We finally were able to win a game in the World Cup after 13 years and broke our losing streak; we lost a couple of close games, which would have made our standings better on the points table."

"We have some matches coming up in the championship that will help us improve our mental strength and decision making. We will gradually improve as we play more games". Bismah further added.

She compared the Pakistani team with other leading teams and spoke about their plans for the future to overcome their mistakes and improve themselves in the future.

"There is a huge difference between the leading teams and us which is obvious, and we need to work on ourselves to compete with them."

"We have domestic cricket and some international fixtures coming up; We need to play competitive cricket that will help us groom ourselves and improve the mental strength that will lead us to make the right decisions under pressure situations to win more matches in future," Bismah stated.

"We also need to improve our bench strength more and adopt the brand of Women's cricket that is being played around the world and produce better results for Pakistan in future," Bismah added.

The highlight of the World Cup was Bismah Mahroof's six-month-old daughter Fatima. She became an instant internet sensation, and everyone praised the infant for her cuteness. At the same time, Bismah was appreciated to make a comeback within a year of her maternity which is not easy.

"It is an honour to make my comeback as a captain. The love I received from my teammates and fans was overwhelming. The journey was not easy to return to cricket after maternity, but the support I received from everyone helped me."

"The love my daughter (Fatima) received from worldwide was very heart touching. There were some amazing moments that I captured with her that she will cherish once she grows up." Bismah concluded.
