He acknowledged that every individual in the team had stepped up and contributed significantly to the triumph
Pakistan pulled off a thrilling four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the first Test match of the two-match series at the Galle International Stadium.
During the post-match press conference, when Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, was asked if the victory in the Galle Test was a message for those who doubted his captaincy, Babar humbly replied, "No, I don't have any message for them."
He acknowledged that every individual in the team had stepped up and contributed significantly to the triumph.
“The credit goes to the team and their hard work, as every player is stepping up and making their performance count. Our focus is on improving as a team in every series,” Babar said.
When questioned about Mohammad Rizwan's future in Test cricket, Babar showed his humility and understanding of team dynamics.
While acknowledging Rizwan's importance as a key player, he emphasized that the final decision on the playing XI was always based on the prevailing conditions and what would be the best possible combination for the team's success.
“We try to play with the best possible playing XI. He [Rizwan] is also our main player but we try to play with the best possible playing XI according to the conditions. We are not to decide anyone’s career,” he concluded.
