‘Don’t want to copy Babar Azam, I want to be first Tayyab Tahir’

Right-hand batsman, Tayyab Tahir, wants to have his own identity as a batsman and doesn’t want to emulate the Pakistan captain, Babar Azam.

While speaking to Cricket Pakistan in an exclusive interview, Tahir said that his batting style is different from Babar and he can’t copy any batsman.

“I don’t’ think I can be second Babar Azam. I won’t call him a legend yet as he is still playing. I don’t copy him, but I can learn from him. I have a different batting style and I don’t have the ability to copy someone. I want to be the first ‘Tayyab Tahir’,” said Tahir.

Central Punjab batsman was named in the Pakistan squad for recently-concluded three-match ODI series against New Zealand, but didn’t get a chance to feature in the playing XI.

However, the right-hand batsman was happy to share the dressing room with Pakistan captain and learn the by observing him.

“I didn’t get a chance to get tips personally since it was only a three-match series, but I have learnt by observing him in the dressing room. You get a chance to get tips when you are regular part of the squad and become a little bit frank with him. However, he made me comfortable in the dressing room,” he said.
