Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has officially announced his retirement from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), marking the end of an era in T20 cricket.

The 2024 edition of the CPL will be Bravo's final appearance in the tournament, closing a remarkable chapter in his illustrious career.

The former all-rounder made the announcement via a heartfelt social media post, where he expressed his excitement about playing his last professional tournament in front of his home crowd in the Caribbean.

In his Instagram post, Bravo shared, “It’s been a great journey and I’m looking forward to playing my final professional tournament in front of my Caribbean people. TKR is the place where everything started for me and will end with my team.”

Throughout his career in the CPL, Bravo has been a dominant force. He is the tournament's all-time leading wicket-taker, with 128 wickets in 103 matches, and has contributed 1,155 runs with the bat.

His leadership has also been instrumental, having led his teams to five CPL titles, including three as captain. Bravo's legacy in the CPL is unparalleled, and he will be remembered as one of the tournament's greatest players.

Bravo will represent the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the 2024 CPL, with the team's campaign kicking off on Sunday against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. As he prepares to bow out, Bravo will be aiming to lead TKR to another title, potentially concluding his career with a sixth CPL trophy.

The 40-year-old's impact on T20 cricket is undeniable. He is the leading wicket-taker in all T20s, with 630 wickets in 578 matches, and has scored 6,970 runs. Additionally, Bravo has the distinction of winning the most trophies in the shortest format of the game.

As Bravo steps away from playing, his future likely lies in coaching and mentoring. He has already shown his capabilities in this role, serving as the bowling consultant for the Afghanistan National Cricket Team during the T20 World Cup 2024, where he played a key role in helping the team reach the semi-finals.
