The Afghanistan Cricket Board has secured the expertise of former West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo as their bowling consultant for the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the Caribbean and the USA next month.

The Afghanistan team, currently in St. Kitts and Nevis, is about to embark on an intensive ten-day training camp, with Bravo scheduled to join them soon.

Bravo's appointment brings a wealth of T20 experience to the Afghanistan squad. Known for his pivotal role in West Indies' two T20 World Cup victories, Bravo retired from international cricket after the 2021 T20 World Cup but continues to leave his mark in T20 leagues globally.

His recent stint in the ILT20 saw him play for MI Emirates, the tournament's champions. With an impressive record of 625 wickets in 573 T20 games, Bravo remains the highest wicket-taker in the format.

Beyond his playing career, Bravo's coaching credentials are solid, having taken on the role of bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL champions, after his IPL retirement in December 2022. His insights and strategies are expected to enhance Afghanistan's bowling unit significantly.

Afghanistan's warm-up fixtures are set against Oman on May 29 and Scotland on May 31, providing crucial opportunities to integrate Bravo's guidance before their World Cup campaign kicks off.

They are placed in Group C, facing formidable opponents including the West Indies, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. Their first match is scheduled against Uganda on June 5 in Providence.
