A three-member security team is scheduled to travel to Pakistan in the coming weeks to inspect three different centres ahead of the much-awaited seven-match T20I series against England.

The security team has been handpicked by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and will also act as the vigilance team while performing their designated duties.

According to a local media outlet, the security team will include ECB officials which will look at the venues and assess the arrangements being made for England cricket team's stay, their hotel surroundings, the route to the stadiums, along with other minor details.

The series is likely to be held in three cities - Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi - however, no official confirmation has been made thus far.

The sources claim that PCB also wants the security team to visit Multan Cricket Stadium as the venue has seen repeated full houses and the city is also secure incase any political instability breaks out.

“Our efforts have been to convince the ECB to send the team to Multan as well. Besides being one of the best stadiums in the country, Multan’s crowd loves the game and is highly supportive of good cricket no matter from which bat the runs are flowing and who is holding the leather for quality delivery," a PCB source stated.

"However, it is up to the ECB to decide on the venues. It is believed that two venues from three major cities are to host the seven-match series which will be finalised at the end of team’s visit to Pakistan,” the source further informed.
