Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani is hoping for an extension in his current role as his contract is set to expire in six months. Mani assumed charge of PCB headquarters on September 4, 2018.

According to sources, Mani wants to continue as PCB Chairman but he hasn’t received any signal from Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding the extension.

With no confirmation on Mani’s extension, there were no discussions held regarding extending Wasim Khan’s tenure as PCB CEO either in the PCB Board of Governors (BoG) meeting in Karachi on Saturday.

The next BOG meeting is scheduled to take place in May this year. A decision on Mani’s extension is expected to be made till then. If Mani fails to get an extension, then new PCB chairman will decide the fate of Wasim Khan as CEO.

Sources further added that Mani briefed the BoG members on the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in India later this year. The Chairman informed the members that PCB has sought assurances from International Cricket Council (ICC) that Pakistan team will be issued visas for the mega event as they don’t want any last minute hassles. Members have given full authority to Mani on this matter.

It must be noted that Government of India has remained silent on the aforementioned matter. PCB has already proposed United Arab Emirates (UAE) as an alternative venue for the mega event in case Government of India denies visa to Pakistan team.
