England announce squad for Test series against Pakistan

The England Men's selection committee has named a 17-strong squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan, set to take place in October.

Durham’s Brydon Carse and Essex’s Jordan Cox are the only uncapped players in the squad, marking an exciting new chapter in their careers.

Returning to the Test set-up are spinners Rehan Ahmed and Jack Leach, both expected to play key roles on Pakistan's spinning tracks. Eight members of the squad – Rehan Ahmed, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes – were part of the team that secured a historic 3-0 Test series victory in Pakistan back in 2022.

Durham seamer Brydon Carse, along with Essex batter Jordan Cox, will be eager to make their Test debuts. Jack Leach returns to the fold for the first time since the opening Test against India in January 2024, while Rehan Ahmed, who made his Test debut during England's last tour of Pakistan, will look to add to his four Test caps.

Leicestershire seamer Josh Hull, fresh off his Test debut at Kia Oval this week, has been named for his first senior tour with England. Kent opener Zak Crawley also makes his return after missing the West Indies series due to a finger injury sustained in July.

England’s captain, Ben Stokes, is included in the squad as he continues his recovery from a hamstring tear that kept him out of the recent Test series victory against Sri Lanka.
