England's women's cricket team comfortably chased down a target of 110 runs to beat Scotland in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on Sunday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Openers Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt-Hodge led the charge with brilliant fifties, helping their team secure victory in just 10 overs.
Bouchier remained unbeaten on 62 from 34 balls, hitting 13 boundaries, while Wyatt-Hodge added an explosive 51 not out from 26 balls. The two openers dominated Scotland's bowling attack, guiding England to a straightforward win without losing any wickets.
Earlier, Scotland won the toss and chose to bat in what was their first-ever T20 International match against England. However, they struggled to build momentum. Openers Sarah Bryce and Saskia Horley put up 38 runs in the first eight overs but failed to accelerate. Horley was dismissed for 13 from 23 balls by Nat Sciver-Brunt.
Captain Kathryn Bryce led Scotland’s effort with a solid 33 off 28 balls, including four boundaries. She was supported by her sister Sarah Bryce, who added 27 from 31 balls, while Ailsa Lister contributed 11 from 14 deliveries. Despite their efforts, Scotland could only manage a total of 109/6 after 20 overs, as England’s bowlers kept them under pressure.
