Reflecting on England’s recent performances, McCullum admitted that the team missed key opportunities
England cricket team’s head coach, Brendon McCullum, has confirmed that a decision on the team’s new captain will be made within the next two weeks.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, McCullum praised Buttler’s leadership over the past two years, highlighting his key role in England’s success.
“Two years ago, Buttler led England to a World Cup victory, and that achievement will always remain his legacy,” he added.
McCullum also acknowledged Buttler’s contributions despite challenges, stating, “Even in the absence of key players, he played a crucial role for the team. He will continue to be an important player for us in the future.”
Revealing Buttler’s decision to step down, McCullum said, “Last night, he informed me that he wanted to relinquish the captaincy.”
Reflecting on England’s recent performances, McCullum admitted that the team missed key opportunities.
“We could have won both of our matches in this tournament, but we failed to capitalize on crucial moments. English cricket has immense talent, and it is important to utilize it effectively,” he concluded.
