Former England captain Eoin Morgan has dismissed speculation linking him to the role of coaching the national white-ball team.

As current head coach Matthew Mott faces scrutiny following England's recent underwhelming performances, Morgan has made it clear that he is not considering a return to the coaching arena at this time.

England's recent record includes a disappointing group-stage exit at the 2023 World Cup and an unimpressive semi-final finish in the T20 World Cup, culminating in a heavy defeat to India last month.

Despite Morgan's storied tenure as England's World Cup-winning captain in 2019, he has emphasized his commitment to his media and family roles.

Morgan, who is currently a pundit for Sky Sports' coverage of The Hundred, stated, “I’ve been asked a lot over the past couple of months about the role and if I would take it on, and my answer has simply been that the timing for everything in my life at the moment is not right.

“Yes, I want to coach down the line, but I have a young family and I spend a lot more time at home and watching cricket doing this. I’m absolutely loving what I’m doing.

“This news is actually news to me. It’s obviously not nice when a coach comes under fire and there is a lot of speculation about his future but only time will tell what will happen,” he added.

Mott, who took over as head coach in 2022 following Chris Silverwood's dismissal, faces an uncertain future. The review of the team's performance, led by Rob Key, managing director of England men's teams, may also examine the role of captain Jos Buttler.

England's white-ball team will next be in action against Australia in September, with their next major tournament, the ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled for February 2025 in Pakistan.
