The T20 World Cup 2024 is set to start on June 2, with the USA and the West Indies sharing hosting duties. England, the defending champions from the last tournament, will have all eyes on them as they aim to repeat their success.

In 2022, England secured their second T20 World Cup title by defeating Pakistan in the final. Now, they're gearing up to showcase their skills in the West Indies and the US. However, their recent performance in the ODI World Cup 2023 wasn't up to par, with England failing to progress past the group stage.

Former England captain Eoin Morgan weighed in on the pressure facing the team. He acknowledged that if England doesn't perform well in this upcoming event, there may be a change in leadership. Morgan emphasized the high expectations placed on the team due to the talent available both domestically and within the squad.

“It would be very close to the end of leadership; I don't think that is being harsh. Even when I was captain, the level of expectations on your shoulders, given the quality of players, both in the domestic game and in the changing room at your disposal, leads to that expectation,” Eoin Morgan told Sky Sports.

“We are one of the best countries in the world when it comes to resources and facilities, and we continue to produce brilliant, and the current squad is no different. Ultimately, your job is to get the best out of that team for the tournament, and I think that it is a balanced squad,” he further added.

England's journey in the T20 World Cup will begin with a match against neighboring Scotland. The match will take place at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Tuesday, June 4.
