Ahmed noted the public's strong interest in past events like the Asia Cup and 2021 World Cup, expecting even greater excitement this time
The UAE is gearing up to host another chapter of the thrilling cricket rivalry between India and Pakistan. Subhan Ahmed, COO of the Emirates Cricket Board and former COO of the PCB, in an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, shared that the unique multicultural environment in the UAE adds an extra layer of excitement to these matches.
“With so many Indians and Pakistanis living here, these games are more than just cricket; they’re a celebration,” he said. “Fans from both sides come together to support their teams and enjoy the sport, creating an electric atmosphere,” he added.
Ahmed highlighted the immense public interest in recent events like the Asia Cup and the 2021 World Cup, expressing optimism for even greater enthusiasm this time. “We expect these matches to be very entertaining and hope to see record-breaking support from fans,” he said.
Ticket sales are set to open soon, with Ahmed assuring accessibility for everyone. “Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring fans from both India and Pakistan, as well as others, can enjoy the action,” he added.
Despite visa challenges faced by some Pakistani fans, Ahmed revealed ongoing discussions with the UAE government to ease the process. “We’re committed to ensuring cricket lovers can attend without unnecessary hurdles,” he added.
While the UAE has hosted many high-stakes games in the past, Ahmed reiterated its readiness to accommodate even more international cricket. “The UAE offers unmatched facilities and government support, making it a prime location for events, even at short notice,” he concluded.
