Sussex County Cricket Club has signed Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf on a short-term deal for the remainder of the 2022 season.

Faheem Ashraf has played 14 Tests for Pakistan, taking 24 wickets at an economy of 2.90. He has also featured on 31 ODIs and 42 T20Is.

He has enjoyed success with the ball in both first-class, where he averages 26.93 and has five five-wicket hauls, and List A cricket, where he averages 24.91.

"Not only is Ashraf an effective bowler at the highest level, but he has also demonstrated an ability to score runs quickly lower down the order," Sussex said in a press release.

In Test cricket he averages 31.80 with a high score of 91, and in first-class cricket averages 29.43 with a high score of 116.

Faheem will be available to play the remaining County Championship games against Worcestershire, Durham and Glamorgan.

Speaking on his delight at joining Sussex, Ashraf said: “Thank you to everyone here at Sussex, I am really excited to be here.

“I am looking forward to playing four-day cricket here in England and I will give 100% for Sussex and hope they enjoy my performances.”
