Each of the six teams possesses the Right to Match Card during the draft, enabling them to reclaim any player released from their squad
Fakhar Zaman has revealed whether he will play for Lahore Qalandars in the upcoming ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
All six franchises have finalised their trades and player retentions ahead of the HBL PSL Player Draft 2024, which is scheduled to take place on 13 December at National Cricket Academy, Lahore.
Lahore Qalandars, the reigning champions and victors of the last two seasons, have retained their captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, in the Platinum category. Haris Rauf, designated as the team's brand ambassador, finds his place in the Diamond category. Sikandar Raza, a key player, has been retained in the Gold category, while the second-ranked T20I bowler, Rashid Khan, remains in the Silver category, although his participation is uncertain due to injury. Mirza Tahir Baig, successful in his relegation request, has been retained in the Silver category. Despite these retentions, the team surprisingly did not keep hold of experienced opener Fakhar Zaman.
However, Fakhar clarified the situation in an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, stating, "They have just released me [as a formality], but I will continue to play for Lahore [Qalandars]."
It's worth noting that, in line with established procedures, each of the six teams possesses the Right to Match Card during the draft, enabling them to reclaim any player released from their roster.
Fakhar Zaman also revealed that his manager handles his social media accounts.
Full retentions:
Lahore Qalandars: Shaheen Shah Afridi (Platinum), Haris Rauf (Brand Ambassador) and David Wiese (both Diamond), Sikandar Raza, Abdullah Shafique and Zaman Khan (all Gold), Mirza Tahir Baig (Successful relegation request) and Rashid Khan (both Silver).
