Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Amir star as Vipers beat Warriorz

The Desert Vipers secured a resounding 10-wicket victory over Sharjah Warriorz in the 15th match of the International League T20 2024-25 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Spearheaded by Fakhar Zaman’s explosive knock and Mohammad Amir’s lethal bowling, the Vipers outclassed their opponents in every department.

After winning the toss and electing to field, the Vipers quickly justified their decision by dismantling the Warriorz' batting lineup. Mohammad Amir was the star of the show, claiming an impressive 4/24 in 3.1 overs. He received valuable support from Wanindu Hasaranga, who picked up 3/10 in his four overs.

The Warriorz struggled from the outset, losing opener Johnson Charles in the first over. Amir wreaked havoc with early breakthroughs, dismissing Avishka Fernando and Rohan Mustafa in quick succession. The middle order failed to recover as Tim Seifert (9 off 14) and Luke Wells (11 off 10) offered minimal resistance.

Jason Roy’s unbeaten 30 off 34 was the only notable contribution, as the Warriorz succumbed to 91 in 19.1 overs.

In reply, the Vipers made light work of the modest target. Fakhar Zaman led the charge with a scintillating unbeaten 71 off 39 balls, smashing seven fours and four sixes. His aggressive approach ensured a quick finish to the match, with Alex Hales contributing a steady 23 off 21 deliveries.

The opening pair put on a 95-run partnership, chasing down the target in just 10 overs. 

Mohammad Amir was awarded the Player of the Match for his stellar bowling figures of 4/24.

With this dominant win, the Desert Vipers added two points to their tally, solidifying their position as table toppers, while Sharjah Warriorz remained in 5th position with 4 points.
