Pakistan’s prolific batsman Fawad Alam achieved a unique feat during his illustrious and unbeaten knock in the first innings of the second Test against West Indies by becoming the quickest Asian batsman to score five Test hundreds.

The 35-year-old scored five hundreds in only 22 innings, surpassing the previously held record by India’s batsman Cheteshwar Pujara who managed the same feat in 24 innings.

Alam also surpassed legendary former batsmen Sourav Ganguly and Sunil Gavaskar, who managed to score five Test hundreds in 25 innings each.

Fawad Alam came out to bat on the first day of the second Test against West Indies after Pakistan had lost three early wickets for just two runs.

The left-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 124-run knock off 213 deliveries with 17 fours to guide his side to a 302-run total before skipper Babar Azam called for a declaration.

Alam has been the bedrock of Pakistan’s batting line-up since making his comeback from an 11-year hiatus.
