Former Bangladesh cricket captain Mashrafe Mortaza has found himself at the center of another controversy, as an FIR has been registered against him for illegal collections and the forced transfer of shares.

The case, which also names six other individuals, has emerged from allegations concerning the BPL team Sylhet Strikers.

The complaint was lodged by Sarwar Ghulam Chaudhary, the former chairman of Sylhet Strikers, at a local police station. According to reports from Bangladeshi media outlets, the charges involve illegal financial dealings and unauthorized share transfers linked to the cricket franchise.

Inspector Adil Hussain confirmed the registration of the case, noting that the investigation is currently underway. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the allegations.

This legal trouble adds to the scrutiny Mortaza is facing, as he is also implicated in a separate case related to the attacks on students during recent protests in Bangladesh.

Previously, a murder case was also filed against Bangladeshi cricketer and former lawmaker Shakib Al Hasan in Dhaka. While on tour in Pakistan with the national team, Shakib was accused of involvement in the murder of a garment factory worker. The victim's father filed the complaint against Shakib and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a police station in Dhaka.
