On and off the cricket field, former India opener, Gautam Gambhir, and former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi, have had a long-standing and infamous rivalry.

Although their contentious Twitter interactions have frequently made news - their conflict originally began during an ODI match between India and Pakistan in 2007.

In an unexpected change of events, the two ex-cricketers were recently spotted embracing and acting cordial towards one another during the Legends League Cricket (LLC) competition in Doha, Qatar.

Shahid Afridi acknowledged the infamous rivalry with Gambhir and finally opened up about their relationship now.

“We are both ambassadors of our respective countries. If you live in the past, you won’t be able to live. We are enjoying in our present. He is leading his team and is in good form, he is playing beautifully and it is fun watching him bat. I have spent two to three days with him and it has been amazing,” Afridi said.

Afridi also said that he would like to see more big names from India and Pakistan to participate in LLC in future.

“Be it Sachin Tendulkar or MS Dhoni, from Pakistan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. These are big names and people want to see them,” he added.
