Somerset all-rounder Archie Vaughan, son of former England captain Michael Vaughan, has been named captain of the England U19 team for their upcoming tour of South Africa. This marks Vaughan’s first time leading the side in an international series.
The 18-man squad will compete in three Youth ODIs and two Youth Test matches during the tour. The team is set to depart on Thursday, 9 January, with the opening Youth ODI scheduled for Friday, 17 January, in Cape Town.
The two-match Test series will commence on Sunday, 26 January, in Stellenbosch, with the second Test starting on Monday, 3 February, in Cape Town.
Young Lions head coach Michael Yardy expressed excitement about the tour, saying, “After putting in a lot of purposeful work during our pre-Christmas camp, we now have the opportunity to compete against South Africa U19s. It’s an exciting challenge for the boys to represent England.”
