Ryan Sidebottom believes Pakistan has a strong chance of winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Former England cricketer Ryan Sidebottom believes Pakistan has a strong chance of winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Speaking to a local news channel, the ex-fast bowler said Pakistan will have the advantage of playing in home conditions, making them one of the top contenders for the title.
"Pakistan will have an advantage of home conditions and are among the favourites for the tournament," Sidebottom said.
However, he made it clear that his support remains with his home team. "As an Englishman, I will support the England team," he added.
Talking about Pakistan’s bowling strength, Sidebottom emphasized the importance of hard work and mental strength. "If Pakistani bowlers work harder, they can achieve great success," he said. He also expressed admiration for legendary pacer Wasim Akram, stating, "I am a fan of Wasim Akram and have learned a lot from him."
Sidebottom, who arrived in Pakistan last Friday, is currently working as a bowling coach in a private cricket training program aimed at developing young talent. The initiative is focusing on under-17 and under-19 players.
The Champions Trophy 2025 will feature eight teams and 15 matches over 19 days. Games will be held in Pakistan and Dubai, with Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi hosting matches in Pakistan. The final is set for March 9 in Lahore, but if India qualifies, it will be moved to Dubai.
